Application:

Adhesive for bonding of hard wood species, composites of HPL/CPL, galvanized iron or metals, expanded polystyrene (sanded) to wood, stone, and many other substrates. Bonded larch wood is to be protected from direct contact with water. For use in shipbuilding.

Characteristics / Directions for Use:

Free of solvents and formaldehyde. Good adhesion to many substrates. Moisture-curing. High strength level. With wheelmark approval. For the manufacture of building elements that have to meet the IMO Resolution MSC.307(88)-(FTP-Code 2010) Annex 1, Part 5, the maximum application amount of 150 g/m² may not be exceeded. Standard application of the adhesive is one-sided, by spatula or roller. In case of non-absorbent substrates and wood with moisture content below 8 %, the adhesive film or the materials to be bonded are to be fogged. Please take care during pressing to prevent the press from gluing shut. Coat the press with a suitable Jowat® release agent for PU adhesives. We recommend using release paper. Requirements for a High-Quality Bonding Process: The properties (e.g. surface tension, plasticizer content…) and the conditioning of the substrates, as well as the processing conditions (e.g. ambient temperature, humidity…) will influence the processes of joining and bonding. Customer tests under consideration of everyday production conditions are therefore absolutely necessary to define stable process parameters and to ensure that the product is fit for purpose. For best bonding results, the materials to be bonded should be free of dust, oil, and grease, and be dry. Ideally, the minimum temperature should be at 18 °C. Avoid draft. Our Application Technology Department and our Application Specialists will provide technical data to assist you in your choice of an appropriate product for your requirements. Please observe the information in the section “Remarks.” As a suggestion on how to establish high-quality bonding processes, please refer to DIN 2304.

Cleaning:

Before curing the prepolymer can be cleaned with a solvent-soaked rag for instance using Jowat® Thinner 401.30 or with Jowat® PUR Cleaner 402.38. After curing, only mechanical removal (emery paper).

Storage:

The product should remain stored in properly closed original containers, dry and cool (15 – 25 °C). Do not transport at temperatures below +5 °C. For best-before date, please see container label. After the elapse of the best-before date, it is essential that you again verify that the product is fit for your intended application.

Packaging:

Information about packaging types and units is available upon request.
